What is Financial Planning?

Taking the appropriate advice is essential, because financial matters will form a part of your negotiations; regardless of the divorce process that you select.

In addition to working as a Family Mediator, I am also an Independent Financial Planner, or IFA; accredited by Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association).

I conduct my work as an IFA through Merlin Financial Consultants, with offices on High Holborn in London.

In fact, this company provides superb administrative and technical support for all of the work that I do.

An IFA can assist not only in the Collaborative process, but also with Mediated and Traditional settlements.

Financial advice is tightly regulated and rightly so. However, generic advice is not a regulated activity.

It is important to understand the boundaries. Much of the generic work that I do as a Financial Planner feeds into my processes as a Family Mediator and Financial Neutral.

However, I am also authorised as a Regulated Individual with the Financial Services Authority and can give specific Financial Planning advice, where appropriate.
